Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum

Welcome to the Early Years page!

At John Henry Newman Academy, we believe passionately in providing all children with an excellent Early Years education in order to prepare them as life-long learners. Our amazing experiences include learning through play, adult-led focus activities, and incredible one-off experiences such as hatching baby chicks from eggs and paying visits to different places in Oxfordshire.

Our F1 learning environment is shared between two classes of up to 30 pupils and F2 (Nursery) can cater for 39 children per morning or afternoon session. Both learning environments include vast outdoor spaces that are accessible to the children in all weathers.

We welcome involvement from parents and carers. Please feel free to look at, borrow and add to your child’s learning journey or ‘special book’. We also run stay and play sessions every Wednesday and Thursday morning. If you are unable to attend these sessions, don’t worry – speak to your child’s class teacher about accommodating you at a more convenient time. Keep your eyes open for one-off events, days and competitions as well – you will be invited!

If you would like your Nursery child to stay for extra sessions through-out the week, we do offer a facility to do so at a cost of £12.50 per session. Please speak to the office for more information.
