PSHCE, at John Henry Newman Academy, is taught using Jigsaw, ‘The Mindful approach in PSHCE’. Jigsaw is an integrated scheme of learning, for Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship Education, with particular emphasis on emotional literacy, mental health, Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural (SMSC) development.
With a strong emphasis on emotional literacy and nurturing mental health as the necessary underpinnings for learning, Jigsaw provides a firm foundation for children to learn key skills to help them be successful and resilient citizens. With mindfulness philosophy and practice woven throughout, Jigsaw is a unique, progressive and effective PSHCE scheme of work.
